Can you imagine something like this ever happening in today’s NBA? Believe it or not, since doing this strip a couple of years ago, I have learned that it wasn’t five million it was ten million…….. 10 MILLION DOLLARS! It wasn’t like he was hurting for cash at the end of his career or anything but I think it’s safe to say that anyone else in this situation would gladly sit around the locker room for 14 more days to collect a little extra walkin’ around money.

Larry Bird grew up dirt poor in a small town. But he was completely happy because everyone else he knew was also dirt poor. He made more money than he ever thought possible but wanted nothing that he felt like he didn’t earn. He also probably knew he was going to make shitloads from Space Jam anyway.
